SEO (Search Engine Optimization) has become a popular term and anyone who spends time online will come across the term. SEO skills can be developed easily and a lot of information is available online or one could just go to one of the SEO conferences and get the hang of it all.

Though the number of techniques and tools for SEO keeps increasing there are some major skills that must be developed by anyone interested seriously in SEO. Leading SEO gurus do realize the importance of the fact that an effective SEO professional must be a person who can always see the big picture and need not be a specialist at only one thing.

Search engine optimization requires many hours of research before the process actually begins. SEO tools are a great time saver, often offering information and data in seconds as opposed to hours of manually checking for specific SEO related information. Though an SEO tool offers an opportunity to save time in gaining needed data quickly, tools do not replace the need to become familiar and experienced with SEO guidelines.

Example tools that help a webmaster safe time are the sandbox detection tool, ranking tool, back link tool, keyword popularity tool. Search engine seo tools are tools that can make a web master successful in achieving information in a short period of time.

There are many SEO tools that can be found on the internet. I would suggest that you research each tool web site and make sure that there are no restrictions to that particular tool.

My favorite free SEO tool is ipmango.com

PageRank vs. Alexa Ranking

For those that don't know what Page rank is, it is a number on a scale of 1 to 10, which should be thought of as the "trust" google has in your website. There has been much debate on how important PR is to your websites success and search engine traffic.

Alexa ranking, on the other hand, is an altogether different number. Your Alexa rating is not determined by how much traffic your website receives, but rather the amount of visitors that reach your page that have the Alexa toolbar installed.

In my opinion you should be trying to improve your Alexa rating, but PR is a selling point for your website, should if you decide to sell or 'flip' your site on popular webmaster message boards.

The truth is, both PageRank and Alexa ranking improvements will be achieved by only by writing or creating quality content. Once you have done this, consider adding a vBulletin forum to your page, and let your community build links for your site through your own forums. Provide something new for your visitors, and let your ranking improve themselves. No magic formula here!

Using article websites as promotion is an excellent tactic for marketing your website, which can also be beneficial to your PR and Alexa rating. Not only do you get a high PR back link within your article, but you also will get potential clicks on this link, if your article is quality.

In conclusion, you should be analyzing the PR and Alexa rank of your competition. This will be useful in revealing how difficult your competition will be for any particular keyword.
